Accomplishments

With decades of experience protecting Marin’s water,

I’m proud to bring proven leadership to the Marin Water Board.

  • 2004: Elected as first professional water resources engineer to the MMWD Board.

  • 2004: Elected as first professional corrosion engineer for the District and the Board worked with staff over the years to institute a corrosion control program that extended the life of residential plumbing 400 %

  • 2005: Advocated for abandonment of the 5 million gallon per day desalination plant as too small and too expensive.

       _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • 2005: Drove development of a new water conservation plan for MMWD.

       _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • 2005: Led the effort  to “firm up” the contract with Sonoma Water to ensure that 14,000 acre feet are available annually at a cost of $6.5 Million.

  • 2005: Began representing MMWD at the Sonoma Water WAC (Water Advisory Committee)

  • 2008: Sponsored the effort to provide initial  financial backing of Marin Clean Energy to ensure that they could become established as the power supplier in Marin County

  • 2008: Led the effort to install $3 Million of solar panels on the roof of the District’s general office building

  • 2010: Coordinated push forward to pass Measure S requiring voter approval before MMWD can finance or build a  desalination project.

  • 2012: Led the effort to upgrade the $7 Million reclaimed water storage and chlorine contact tank at Las Gallinas reclaimed water plant.

  • 2016: Led the effort to upgrade and replace the first half of the water main in Paradise Drive Tiburon that was installed in 1922.

  • 2018: Helped establish installation of real time video of Board and Committee meetings to enable hybrid meetings going forward – proved to be critical to the District’s  Covid response plan and more open meetings.

  • 2021: Led effort to develop the Wildfire Resilience Study/Report. (strategic plan to address the wildlife urban interface fire issues).

  • 2022: Led the effort to join with Las Gallinas to upgrade and replace the MMWD reclaimed  water plant at Las Gallinas.

  • 2022: Coordinated and guided emergency response intertie across Richmond San Rafael Bridge to EBMUD.

  • 2023: Supported  upgrading of the Smith Saddle water storage tanks

  • 2023: Served as Board President for third time

  • 2024: Active in the Development of MMWD Strategic Plan designed to ensure reliable and resilient future water supply for MMWD.

  • 2024: Led effort to completion of the upgrade and replacement of the second half of the water main in Tiburon Paradise Drive originally  installed in 1922.

  • 2024: Led effort to construct the Pine Mountain tunnel and replace it with appropriate and economical ly sized water storage facilities (originally installed in 1919).

  • 2024: Actively worked to develop a new  Watershed recreation plan to serve the new recreational demands.

  • 2024: Attended over 98 % of Board and committee meetings during my elected tenure
